Creating New Homes for Adults with Developmental Disabilities:
Adding Housing the Old Fashioned Way – One Home a Year
Presenter Dana Hooper, executive director, Life Services Alternatives, is an advocate for creating more Adult Residential Homes and has successfully opened eight homes in Santa Clara County, including adding four homes over the past three years. Dana will provide an update on how the lives of the 15 residents living in LSA’s Cypress, Humbolt and Jordan-Bennett homes have been impacted. He will discuss the goal of creating one new Adult Residential Home each year.
As a former board member of San Andreas Regional Center and a parent of a developmentally disabled son in Supported Living, he understands the full spectrum of housing options in our community. Life Services Alternatives believes all people with developmental disabilities have the right to live life to its fullest in our community. Twenty four hours a day, they care for and support adults with special needs in their neighborhood homes in Santa Clara County. Through personalized programs focused on skill-building, they make a difference in the quality of our residents’ lives, enabling them to reach their true potential.
