SESSION 7: 3.50-5:00pm
Room LK203/204
Person-centered Planning: More Than a Theory, It Can Affect Funding
With Desiree Kameka, Madison House Autism Foundation:
About this session:
Besides acting as a foundation of meaningful life choices, person-centered plans are now federally required to access waiver funding. These new HCBS regulations have the opportunity to open or close doors to accessing publicly funded supports. In this session, you will learn exactly what is required by federal law for the person-centered planning process and how it can be used to ensure needed accommodations. We will discuss how and where to begin developing this plan and what resources are available on the Autism Housing Network to help you in the process.
Desiree Kameka is the Director of Community Education, Advocacy, and Housing Network for the Madison House Autism Foundation, the National Coordinator of the Coalition for Community Choice, and the Project Leader of the Autism Housing Network. She spends every day researching and consulting on autism housing and support challenges, along with telling stories of innovators across the nation
